The Ayurvedic view of the body rests on the principle that the human body is an epitome of the universe, consisting of the same five elements – Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth.

These elements are represented in the body by three doshas (humours or functional principles): Vata (Ether and Air), Pitta (Fire and Water) and Kapha (Water and Earth), which are responsible for the diverse physiological processes in the body.

From conception, the doshas combine in different degrees to form your constitution – determining your physical, emotional and psychological makeup.

In our daily life, these doshas can go out of balance due to our diet, lifestyle, stress levels and environment. The aim of Ayurveda is to rebalance the doshas so that they return to the level of your unique Constitution, where you will be at your healthiest and happiest.
